Beginnings are Easier than they look.
I used to be afraid of starting over, not because I wasn’t ready but because deep down I didn’t feel capable. I was living in scarcity in survival most. But Recently I was reminded that it’s all inside of me.
So, Why substack?
I’m finally making my way to substack because I have things that people need to hear, feel, and know. Substack feels like a space where I can come and share the things an Instagram reels, TikTok or overly edited YouTube video can’t hold real space to be felt. Atleast for me. I used to spend my time using my speaking and sharing abilities as a poet but my poems always felt too long to be a poem, and too short to be a book, and I wasn’t the same as all of the spoken word artist who memorize every piece and perform consistently. I just realized I liked sharing who I am, and allowing who I am to light the path for others. So here I am on substack, divided from the typical attention span, here — where people can truly embrace what I am sharing. This is for every little girl in a woman’s body finding her voice.
I want to build a community where conversations create wholeness, alleviate pressure inspire and Learn problem solving skills together. They used to say each one teach one or iron sharpens iron. In other words I don’t just turn the lights on, guide people on how to turn the lights on for themselves. How to be abundant even in the midst of a storm.
There will be no set schedule to when I post. Here I’m a pretty spontaneous writer, a lot of my thoughts and ideas come through mediation are very private to me and it takes time to decide what is worth sharing. But I look forward to sharing many things with you all anyways. My free subscription will include a range of topics from hair care, new herbs im trying and how I think they’re helping me, my journey with plant medicine. And my paid subscribers will get one on one access with me to learn my strategies and receive personal coaching on personal healing and natural hair care!
Right now, my focus is on continually expanding and refining Growing Naturally and Tangled Allegiance—two bodies of work centered on restoring the relationship between Black women and their hair through education, ritual, and self-understanding. These guides are for the woman who is tired of guessing, tired of feeling disconnected, and ready to learn her hair in a way that actually creates results. If that’s you, I invite you to subscribe and follow along as I continue to build, update, and share new insights in real time.
